Live cable end. Lid missing from junction.
Metal fitting not earthed. Fire rated ceiling with non fir rated lamp.

No protective conductors and old cable
Lead cable c1940s. This one sheath was live!! Only insulation was the paint.
Protective/earth conductor cut off.
Flex cable supplying shower unit. Has gone black with overheating.
There is enough material here to be used in text books for the next 10 years!!
- Cable supply 10 times too small.
- Socket next to shower. And if that is not bad enough it is metal!!!

1960’s two way switch.
Imperial size conductors. Old colours. Wood back box. No circuit protective conductors
Bathroom light.
Earth conductor cut off and jointed with masking tape and twisted wire
No main earth terminal.
All bonding and earth cables attached to redundant gas pipe
Economy 7 meter tails cut off.
Only small amount of insulation tape over bare copper ends.
Cable feeding lower floor lighting clipped over skirting board. Damaged and nearly cut through exposing live wire.
Unprotected cable damaged probably caused by Hoover
World record attempt to get 11 cables in one joint. Broken junction box and a good old bit of mower flex to power a floodlight
What else would you use the earth lig for? Other than to joint the neutral of course.
The next three pictures are all in the same loft space.
1: novel fire hood over a downlighter.
2. The neutral in junction cut too short so lets use the bare eart as rge switched line.
3. And very scary joint in mid air with bare live conductor connected to old rubber cable.
Christmas day call out 2am. To smoking fuse board.
Probably caused by loose neutral cable within fuse board. It essential to tighten factory screw when installing any new board.
Temporary repair made but board will need to be replaced.
Very lucky owners smelt burning as board was installed within child's bedroom.
Badly installed down light in Westerham.
Downlight had been fitted enclosed within insulation. Cable had been trapped on top of light fitting causing cable to burn through. Fortunately RCD hdid it’s job and tripped circuit before a fire broke out.
Call out to fuse blowing in Frant, Tunbridge Wells.
After about an hour of searching the culprit would appear to be small and furry.
Vermin especially mice and squirrels love PVC cables. Not only are they good to chew they run slightly warm and are great central heating for your nest.
